'No Question' Cowboys Can Have Top 5 Offense Under Brian Schottenheimer
Kirby Lee - USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys' offense under Brian Schottenheimer, on paper, has all the weapons needed to be a top unit in football.

A healthy Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Jake Ferguson, George Pickens, and an offensive line that now boasts three first-round picks, and what we think will be an improved run game, all make for fascinating viewing in 2025.

The biggest reason for why some think this offense can be elite is the two weapons Dak has in CeeDee and George, both of whom are clear No. 1 receivers.

But can it all mesh together and become a top-five unit in football? Former NFL player and now analyst Damien Woody thinks so, if one thing happens.

"We talk about Dak Prescott, when Dak Prescott plays a full set of games, Dallas, traditionally, has been one of the best offenses in the league," Woody said on First Take. "I think a lot is predicated on the Dallas Cowboys' offensive line. If the offensive line, which they've heavily invested in as far as draft capital, if those guys come together, there is no question in my mind that the Dallas Cowboys will be top five [offense] with the weapons they have."

We can hear Tyler Smith rubbing his hands together at the thought that his unit will be the straw that stirs the offense's drink in 2025.

Additionally, over the last three seasons in which Prescott has been able to play every regular season game, Dallas' offensive rankings have been sixth (2019, 27.1 p/g), first (2021, 31.2 p/g), and first again in 2023 (29.9 p/g).

So, if Dak is healthy for the full 2025 season, there's every reason to think the Cowboys could be rolling offensively...if the offensive line led by Tyler Smith can come to the party. Tyler Guyton and Tyler Booker have to hit the ground running from Week 1, so too Terence Steele and center Cooper Beebe, so the line can adequately protect Dak.

The weapons are there, and the run game might be (we hope), and it is all up to the revamped offensive line and coaches Klayton Adams and Conor Riley to get this train rolling.

If they can, and that's a big if, then Dallas might just be in business.
