Patrick Mahomes is gearing up for his ninth season in the NFL as the Kansas City Chiefs played in their first preseason game of the 2025 season, taking on the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
As coach Andy Reid mentioned before, Mahomes got the start for the preseason opener, but only received two snaps. The Chiefs were fortunate enough to recover a fumble on the opening kickoff, placing them in the red zone. And it only took two plays for Mahomes to find the endzone, hitting Jason Brownlee for a one-yard score.
And Mahomes' mother, Randi Mahomes, may have missed it.
Randi was not in attendance for Saturday's game against Arizona, but she was supporting her son from home. Or at least trying to.
During the game, Randi posted a picture of the Chiefs-Rams game, which was blacked out in her area. The screen read "the program's blocked in your area," which could mean it was being televised on a local broadcast. However, it is unclear if Randi was in Kansas City or her hometown of Tyler, Texas.
"What’s up with this!!! NOT OK," Randi Mahomes wrote on X.

If Randi did remain in Tyler, one may be surprised that the Chiefs' game was blacked out instead of the Dallas Cowboys, who were battling the Los Angeles Rams at the same time.
Based on the photo Randi posted above, she appears to be at the $825,000 house in Tyler, a recent gift from Patrick, his wife Brittany, and his brother Jackson. Randi expressed her appreciation for the gift as well.
"Home is where the heart is and my heart is full!" Randi said after receiving the new house. "Beyond grateful for my amazing family and my grandbabies for this incredible blessing." "Being a Mom and Grandi is the greatest joy of my life, and I'm so thankful for the love that surrounds me every day. Here's to new memories, laughter, and love in this beautiful new home!"
The next time Randi could be able to watch her son will come on Friday, when the Chiefs face the Seattle Seahawks. If last year is an indication of what's to come, Patrick Mahomes will be starting in that game as well.
