There were some conflicting reports surrounding 2026 Glenside (Pa.) La Salle College offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh following his official visit to Notre Dame. That visit left some good vibes about the Fighting Irish, but it appeared that Penn State would still be the decision in the end.
Folks around the Fighting Irish program were conflicted about their chances coming out of the visit, with some more positive than others. It didn’t help those feelings when McKeogh announced a July 1st commitment date with a Penn State media platform. Things have shifted over the last 24 hours.
Notre Dame is now viewed as the heavy favorite for McKeogh, and there are a lot of predictions coming in for the Fighting Irish. That includes On3 vice president of recruiting Steve Wiltfong, putting in an expert prediction for McKeogh to end up in South Bend. There is a lot of smoke right now, and where there’s smoke, there is usually fire.
After the visit, I was admittedly not high on the Notre Dame chances. After talking to a couple of more sources over the last day, my feelings have also shifted. I would be shocked if McKeogh did not pick the Fighting Irish batting something unforeseen down the stretch.
The Pennsylvania native now ranks as a four-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite ranking after being very underrated early on. That rating has him pegged as the No. 262 overall player, No. 20 offensive tackle, and No. 7 player in the state of Pennsylvania in the 2026 recruiting class.
McKeogh’s offer list has also continued to expand, and the demand has risen tremendously over the last few months. Some of the top programs who have offered McKeogh includes the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Boston College, Syracuse, Northwestern, West Virginia, Rutgers, Duke, Wake Forest, USF, and Liberty.
Outside of the 6-7, 270-pound McKeogh, Notre Dame is also making a strong push for Charlie Thom. There is a chance that they push to six offensive lineman in the class to go along with Tyler Merrill, Gregory Patrick, Ben Nichols, and Sullivan Garvin.
