Notre Dame football has made it a habit of attracting the sons of former Fighting Irish and NFL players, and you can extend that to all legacies. You can look at the current roster and see players like Bryce Young, Jerome Bettis Jr., and James Flanigan, and memories will begin. It doesn’t appear that trend is stopping anytime soon.

In the 2027 recruiting class, Danville (Ky.) Boyle County tight end Seneca Driver is a player to know. He is the nephew of former Notre Dame running back and defensive back Tony Driver. His uncle was a sixth round selection by the Buffalo Bills in the 2001 NFL Draft

The younger Driver has been putting together a tremendous offseason, and is just a rising junior. At over 6-6 and 232 pounds, Driver has a massive frame, while also be an outstanding athlete. His combination of size, explosiveness, and long speed has made him a Notre Dame target to know early on in the 2027 class.

Driver is rated as a top-100 recruit by a couple of the major recruiting platforms. On the On3 Industry ranking, Driver currently sits as the No. 82 overall player, No. 5 tight end, and No. 1 player in the state of Kentucky for the 2027 recruiting class. 247Sports also has him pegged as the No. 98 overall player in the country.

It isn’t overly surprising to see that Driver is being pursued by a long list of prominent programs. Some of his top offers currently include the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, Texas A&M, Florida, Penn State, Nebraska, Auburn, South Carolina, Michigan State, Missouri, Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin, Indiana, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Purdue, Cincinnati, and Duke among others.

As a sophomore, Driver put together a tremendous season for Boyle County. The 6-6, 232-pound pass catcher managed to haul in 24 receptions for 353 yards and six touchdowns. Driver also added another score on the ground.

He was also used on the defensive side of the football. Driver was able to collect 36 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble.
