Offense ranks 1st, but Cowboys defense is dead last after 4 weeks

Last night, the Dallas Cowboys went blow for blow with the Green Bay Packers without CeeDee Lamb or Tyler Booker in a game that nobody gave them a chance to win.

I totally understood why that was the case, but through four weeks, the Cowboys have the No. 1 offense in the NFL entering Monday Night Football at 404.3 yards per game.

They have the WORST defense, sitting at No. 32 defense at 420.5 yards given up per game.

Something Has To Give

Let’s be honest with ourselves here, this was probably the best game Dak Prescott has ever played.

They needed everything they got from him, and he went blow for blow with the team everyone had as Super Bowl champs after three weeks. A defense that was second in scoring coming into this game.

Dak lit them up and that is what he is going to have to do every single game if this team wants a chance.

I just can’t believe how bad this defense is. They only rush four, and sit back in coverage hoping for the QB to make the mistake, but guys are standing in pockets WIDE open.

To me, I am starting to feel more about the Matt Eberflus defense and what he is trying to play.

It would work if this team still had Micah Parsons and could rush the quarterback with only four guys, but they can’t.

When it comes to the linebackers, I thought this would be one of the best units on the team, but I am having a hard time buying into them.

Jack Sanborn led the team with 11 total tackles, including 6 solo. I actually see that as part of the problem with this defense.

The average box score watcher will praise him for those numbers, but if you watched the game, he was involved in many of the coverage allowed and overall defensive issues.

At the end of the day, having a tie is such a weird feeling, it is such an odd moment.

The Cowboys now play the Jets and the Panthers, so when they win both of those games, they will be sitting at 3-2-1. I guess that looks better than 3-and-3, but this was a game where the defense makes one stop, and they win.

Whether that stop happens after George Pickens scored with 40 seconds left, or on 4th and 6 in overtime, Dallas wins this game.

They did not though, and this defense has got to get figured out.

Credit to Dak for keeping this team in the thick while they have the worst defense in football.

The offense is going to have to stay at the top and do this every single week if the defense continues to play like this.

Feels a little bit like the Bengals of last season.
