The Oklahoma Sooners may be the hottest team in recruiting right now. They've been landing elite defensive players left and right, and of course, a few receivers to go with quarterback Bowe Bentley. They don't seem to be stopping either.
Earlier this week, the Sooners landed Beau Jandreau, then Daniel Norman, and are predicted to land Jake Kreul, all defensive prospects that are very highly ranked on the Sooners' list. Now, they are predicted to land another quarterback, even after just getting Bowe Bentley, and just after losing Jaden O'Neal.
But, don't worry, this kid isn't in the same class as Bentley. This would be for the 2027 class, and the Sooners have wanted him for a while now.
Peyton Houston won't be able to get on campus until 2027. Sure, that's a ways from now, and no one really knows what will happen in the two years between now and then, whether it be his career or the Sooners coaches that are on staff at that time, but it's very evident that, as things stand, they want him.
Houston is a four-star quarterback from Louisiana, Shreveport, to be exact. He's 6'0" and around 190 pounds, with plenty of time to continue growing. Now, no one is saying he will be the next Kyler Murray, but his running and throwing style has drawn comparisons to the Arizona Cardinals QB.
His record-breaking game against Captain Shreve saw him throw for 817 yards and account for 10 total touchdowns in a 77-76 overtime loss, setting a national high school single-game passing record.
Houston has received over 30 Power Five offers from top programs, including Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Clemson, Texas, Georgia, LSU, and Florida State. Oklahoma seems to be the biggest one that's heavily pursuing him, with frequent campus visits, while USC and Clemson were impressed by his camp performances.
The Sooners, and no one really, don't know what will be happening in 2027 with their quarterback room. And, you always want to stay ready.
