Ioane attended Graham-Kapowsin High School in Graham, Wash., where he was a three-star offensive line recruit. He committed to Penn State and redshirted in his first season with the team. In 2023, Ioane played in 13 games with five starts, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention honors and Academic All-Big Ten honors. In his sophomore season, Ioane started all 16 games, helping Penn State reach the College Football Playoff semifinals. He was selected to the All-Big Ten second team and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. Ioane started 11 games in 2025 and earned All-Big Ten first team honors, Academic All-Big Ten honors, and he was named an Associated Press Second Team All-American.
Ioane is dominant and consistent in pass protection. He allowed zero sacks, zero quarterback hits, and just four pressures during the 2025 season. He allowed zero sacks in the 2024 season as well. Ioane has ideal size for the position, plays with good technique in pass protection, and he has a strong anchor against powerful pass rushers. He has strong hands and a powerful punch to stall defenders.
Ioane is also a smart player who understands the game at a high level. He has good awareness and does a solid job at identifying stunts and blitzes. Ioane is a strong and physical run blocker. He has incredible play strength with the ability to move defenders in the run game. Ioane plays with great competitive toughness, and he does a good job of consistently sustaining and finishing blocks. He also does a great job at limiting penalties. Ioane had just one penalty during the entire 2025 season.
Ioane does not have elite athletic ability. He does an overall adequate job at getting to the second level, but has average range and overall movement skills. Ioane does not possess great lateral quickness, and he can struggle against quick pass rushers. His pad level can also be a bit too high at times.
Ioane is an experienced, consistent, and well-rounded prospect, who has the ability to be an immediate contributor at guard for an NFL team. While he doesn’t have elite athleticism or lateral quickness, Ioane does have overall solid athletic ability, and he has good size for the position, tremendous play strength, a powerful punch, and strong hands. Ioane is maybe the best pass protector of any interior offensive lineman in this year’s draft class, with multiple seasons of high-level consistency against great competition as a pass protector. In the run game, he is a powerful run blocker with tremendous competitive toughness. Ioane is a pro-ready prospect who can be a solid starter as a rookie, and has the potential to be a consistently impactful starting guard in the NFL.
