One training camp practice might have cost Eagles veteran his job

The backup offensive linemen for the Philadelphia Eagles at training camp in Week 2 have not done enough to alleviate fan stress after a poor showing. One lineman is standing out as someone who was once a potential lock for the 53-man roster, might now be on the outside.

Eagles lineman Trevor Keegan has been mainly playing guard, but has also been taking snaps at center as the team looks for a proper backup to Cam Jurgens. It has not been going well to the point that offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland expressed his frustration.

"Speaking of bad shotgun snaps, Trevor Keegan had a bunch of those," Bleeding Green Nation Eagles reporter Brandon Lee Gowton wrote. "At one point, Jeff Stoutland pulled him out of team drills. Not feeling good about Keegan’s chances to make the roster."

Keegan needs to step up the rest of Eagles training camp to save his job

To be fair to Keegan, he's not the only one who has struggled in the snapping department at training camp. Earlier in the week, Brett Toth was having trouble with consistent snaps himself. Even in the same practice as Keegan's struggles, that rookie Drew Kendall had his bad snaps from shotgun that ruined drives.

The main reason three different linemen are working out at center is that Jurgens has been limited with a back injury that doesn't appear to be too serious. Still, head coach Nick Sirianni and the team are being safe about it. It's still a good time to figure out who can be the backup, and right now, it's not looking good for at least Keegan.

There were high hopes for Keegan entering 2025, especially with Mekhi Becton's departure and Tyler Steen taking over as the starting right guard. It opened the door for the former 2024 fifth-round pick to make his mark after Keegan only appeared in one game last year.

Now it's going to take three great performances in preseason to help save Keegan from being on the roster bubble. The same could be said for Kendall and Toth, who have also struggled. No one behind the main starting five linemen is 100% safe from being cut.
