There is no doubt that the biggest storyline heading into the Week 4 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys is the return of Micah Parsons to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, following his offseason move to Green Bay.
There was a lot of drama surrounding Parsons’ exit, which ultimately led to Jerry Jones green-lighting a blockbuster trade deal with the Packers. This put an end to Parsons’ memorable four-year tenure with the Cowboys, and he is now set to return to his former stomping ground for the first time as an opponent.
This also only means that Parsons will get to battle his former teammates on the field. The two-time All-Pro linebacker has already expressed his excitement about the game, particularly with bringing the pain when he tackles Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Parsons had more words for his former teammate on Wednesday. The new Packers star had nothing but high praise for Prescott, whom he previously described as a “good mentor.”
“I think Dak is so good because he’s overly confident,” Parsons said, via Cowboys reporter Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He believes he can make every throw. And I think 90% of the time he does do that.
“You want your quarterback to have that mentality. I just think he’s a person who is very resilient and he’s determined. I never would bet against him.”
Parsons has made it abundantly clear that he has nothing but love and respect for Prescott. However, this does not detract from the fact that Parsons will do everything in his power to ensure that his former teammate has a miserable outing on Sunday.
At the end of the day, though, all the competitive fire will remain on the football field. When it's all said and done, Parsons and Prescott are good friends who wish nothing but the best for each other — regardless of the fact that they are now on opposing sides.
