Packers add WR Allen Lazard to reserve/COVID-19 list

Flying out west on a short week to face the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals was always going to be a difficult task for the 6-1 Green Bay Packers, but the mission became all the more daunting when Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry tested positive for COVID-19 and then when star wide receiver Davante Adams landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday.

Green Bay's coronavirus-related woes continue as the club's trip to Arizona approaches.

As Rob Demovsky of ESPN explained, the Packers placed wide receiver Allen Lazard on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. Rules for vaccinated players permit them to return to team activities if they produce two negative virus tests 24 hours apart and are asymptomatic, but the Packers are scheduled to leave for Arizona on Wednesday. This timeline practically guarantees Lazard won't play Thursday night.

"I have talked to him," Green Bay quarterback and reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers said of Adams, who is widely believed to be vaccinated. "He seems to be health-wise doing OK. Obviously, he's disappointed."

Adams hadn't cleared COVID-19 protocols as of Tuesday afternoon.

Additionally, Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been on injured reserve because of a hamstring issue. If he can't play, veteran Randall Cobb could be Rodgers' WR1 at Arizona. Per ESPN stats, Cobb is fifth on the Packers with 14 catches and fourth with 179 receiving yards, and he also has a pair of touchdown grabs on the campaign.
