On the Packers’ final defensive play, a 3rd & goal sack of Jared Goff by Micah Parson s, defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt sustained what is likely a season-ending ankle injury. It didn’t look good at the time , and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed Friday that Wyatt suffered a fracture.
#Packers DL Devonte Wyatt, who was carted off in yesterday’s win over the #Lions, suffered a fractured ankle, per me and @TomPelissero.

Having lost a major cog in the front four, the Packers will have to hope for the best using the likes of Warren Brinson and Karl Brooks in his place.
Brinson, the teammate who rolled over on Wyatt’s ankle to cause the injury, played 31 snaps on Thursday, filling in for the injured Brooks. If the latter is healthy he would likely be Wyatt’s default replacement. In 11 games this season, Brook has 17 tackles and 0.5 sacks. In 45 career games, the third-year tackle has eight sacks, four fumble recoveries, and seven passes defensed.
The Packers drafted Brinson this year in the sixth round, 198th overall, out of Georgia. He has played in six games total including each of the last four. He recorded half a sack against the Vikings and has made eight tackles this season.
Wyatt, meanwhile, was off to a strong start in year four. His four sacks in 10 games put him on pace for a career high. By the eye test, he made significant strides from a season ago, though Pro Football Focus has not graded him favorably (54.5 overall PFF score, 86th/128 eligible d-linemen).
Obviously, replacing him with Brooks or Brinson is not ideal, but the Packers don’t have much of an alternative in sight.
