The Green Bay Packers have some issues to address. That much was clear after they took a major stumble in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field.
Green Bay was widely expected to take care of business against Bryce Young and company, but they stunningly faltered in accomplishing a mission many thought was a gimme to the Packers, absorbing a 16-13 loss.
Adding to Green Bay’s gloomy Sunday was the injuries to some of their key players, including tight end Tucker Kraft and wide receiver Matthew Golden.
Kraft went down with an apparent serious knee injury in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Golden also got hurt in the same quarter, sustaining a shoulder injury that caused him to be ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
The rookie out of the Texas Longhorns football program was among the multiple Packers players who suffered injuries in the defeat at the hands of the Panthers.
Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN:
First-round pick Matthew Golden also was ruled out during Sunday’s game after suffering a shoulder injury in the third quarter, although there was no additional information about his status afterward. The rookie wide receiver had two catches for 9 yards before exiting.
Golden didn’t make much impact on the Panthers game, as he produced just 16 receiving yards on two catches and two targets. He’s now gotten no more than two targets in two games in a row. Whether he gets more looks from quarterback Jordan Love in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles at home will, of course, depend first on his availability.
Hopefully for Golden and the Packers, his injury isn’t serious enough to keep him sidelined for the upcoming meeting with the reigning Super Bowl champions.
