Packers' Jaire Alexander and Quay Walker are inactive vs Steelers
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are going to be, as expected, without two of their starting defenders, and both of them are former first-round picks. Cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder) and off-ball linebacker Quay Walker (groin) are officially inactive for the versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jaire Alexander is going to miss his fourth game this season. The first three were because of back issues, and he's recovered from it. However, the highest-paid defensive back in football hurt his shoulder in the game against the Los Angeles Rams last week, and therefore won't be able to play in Pittsburgh. He didn't practice throughout the week.

Without Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, still on injured reserve, the available cornerbacks for the Packers on Sunday are Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, Corey Ballentine, Innis Gaines, and Robert Rochell.

Quay Walker injured his groin last week during practice. He had already missed the Rams game, and now was also declared out. Without him, third-round player Isaiah McDuffie plays alongside De'Vondre Campbell in the middle of the defense.

Questionable players

All questionable players are good to go. That includes defensive tackle Kenny Clark (shoulder) and safety Rudy Ford (calf), who were limited during practice throughout the week — Ford is back after missing last week’s game.

This is also good news for the offensive line. Tackle Yosh Nijman (back) tested in the pregame and is active — he’s not expected to start, though, as Rasheed Walker will be the left tackle. Center Josh Myers (knee) and guard Jon Runyan (neck) are also available to play.

Packers inactives

Beyond the two injured players, the Packers have three healthy scratches to complete the inactive list.

CB Jaire Alexander
LB Quay Walker
EDGE Brenton Cox
OT Caleb Jones
WR Samori Toure
