The Green Bay Packers are going to be without one of the offense’s most vital weapons for the foreseeable future, perhaps even the remainder of the 2025 NFL season.
Thursday night, wide receiver Jayden Reed, who finished the 2024 campaign as the Packers’ leading receiver, suffered a broken collarbone, which puts his 2025 season in doubt.
Afterwards, Reed vowed to get back on the field, with his teammates, for what could be a critical stretch run to close out the season, or at the very least, the playoffs.
“I’ll be back,” Reed posted on social media, after Thursday night’s game.
Through the first two weeks of the 2025 season, Reed had caught three passes for 45 yards while figuring to remain one of quarterback Jordan Love’s top targets and one of the Packers’ most prolific weapons.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Reed could be sidelined for between six and eight weeks, after suffering the injury on Thursday night.
“He is going to miss a lot of time. Unfortunately, he broke his collarbone, so he’ll be down for quite some time,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters. “We’ll see how fast he can recover and heal. Certainly, I would expect him back at some point this season. Obviously, it’s a big blow to us. He’s a guy that is a catalyst for our offense and our football team, quite frankly. The energy he brings. He’s a dog. He’s going to compete, he plays tough and physical and he’s a playmaker.”
In Reed’s absence, the Packers will likely turn to rookie Savion Williams to take on an expanded role, and tight end Tucker Kraft could continue to see an outsized share of targets from Love in a passing game that has been downright explosive through the first two weeks.
