The Green Bay Packers entered Week 9 primed to extend their win streak to four games. But it did not pan out for Jordan Love and company, as Green Bay got stunned at Lambeau Field by Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers via a 16-13 score on Sunday.
What made the loss feel worse for Green Bay was the injury suffered by star tight end Tucker Kraft in the third period. Kraft hurt his knee in the quarter and missed the remainder of the contest. Before he exited, he had amassed 20 receiving yards on two receptions and three targets.
It was a tough night overall for Green Bay’s offense, and it’s about to get more challenging going forward for the Packers on that side of the field, assuming that Kraft will be ruled out for a long period.
Love, who had a letdown performance against the Panthers, reflected on Kraft and the tight end’s injury and the outlook for Green Bay’s attack.
Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN:
“Tuck means a lot,” said Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who failed to throw a touchdown pass in a game for the first time this season. “I think his leadership role and then obviously his play on the field. He’s been playing at a high level. We’ll see what the injury is, but not having him out there for the rest of the game was huge. So, yeah, it’s one of those situations, though. It’s the next man up. We’ve got to find ways to keep playing at a high level without him out there.”
After going off for 360 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions and a 90.0 adjusted quarterback rating, Love faltered versus the Panthers. In the loss to Carolina, the former Utah State Aggies star went 26-of-37 for 273 passing yards, zero touchdowns and an interception while posting just a 66.6 adjusted quarterback rating.
