Packers' Lambeau Field hosting Bayern Munich-Manchester City match

A very compelling case could be made that Green Bay, Wisconsin, is the capital of the NFL universe. The Packers are arguably the greatest franchise in NFL history and one of the best teams in sports. There will be game taking place at Lambeau Field on Saturday. However, it will not involve the Packers. The legendary setting will play host to a different kind of professional football. Historic European soccer clubs in Manchester City of the English Premier League and Bayern Munich of the Bundesliga will face off at the historic site on Saturday evening.

Fans from all 50 states and 19 total countries, including the United Kingdom, will be arriving at 1265 Lombardi Avenue to view the matchup of the championship clubs. This will be the first soccer match hosted by the Green Bay Packers in their home stadium. Lambeau Field is the second-oldest stadium in NFL history. It opened in 1957 and is entering its 65th season as home of the Packers. This exhibition game is part of the preseason slate for both clubs before they enter their regular-season schedules in both the English Premier League (top professional soccer league in the United Kingdom) and the Bundesliga (top professional soccer league in Germany).

Both teams will be hosting pregame events prior to kickoff. The Packers Pro Shop will be selling merchandise for both teams during the game. It will be a fantastic event because two great sports will be mixing. There are no MLS or NWSL teams in the state of Wisconsin, which is why it will be a rare treat for local fans too. Two of the world's most popular soccer teams will be taking the field in arguably the NFL's most historic and popular stadium. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
