The Green Bay Packers entered Week 11’s matchup against the New York Giants looking to get back on track. After holding sole possession of first place in the NFC North just a week ago, Green Bay has dropped two straight and sits third in the division.

The offense has struggled to produce during the skid, managing just 13 points against the Carolina Panthers and seven against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite the lack of scoring, running back Josh Jacobs has remained a bright spot. He has been the team’s primary source of offense in both losses, rushing for 87 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries against Carolina, followed by 74 yards and another score on 21 rushes against Philadelphia.

During Week 11, Jacobs was once again off to a strong start. Through his first seven carries in the opening half, he had already racked up 40 yards. However, his momentum came to a halt following Green Bay’s first drive of the second quarter.

Although the Packers capped the possession with a touchdown, Jacobs headed to the locker room immediately afterward and did not return for the team’s next series. Shortly after, Green Bay announced that he had suffered a knee injury and was questionable to return. Minutes later, the team posted another update. “RB Josh Jacobs (knee) has been ruled out," the Packers wrote on X.

Jacobs missing time would be a major blow to Green Bay’s rushing attack. He has been the most consistent piece of the offense during a stretch where the passing game has struggled, and his physical style sets the tone for the entire unit. Without him, the Packers would likely lean on a committee approach, but none of the backups offer Jacobs’ combination of power, vision and experience.

Jacobs signed a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers in 2024, per Spotrac, bringing his talents to Green Bay after five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. Now in his second year with the team, the 27-year-old has continued to produce at a high level. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and a one-time first-team All-Pro. His career accolades speak for themselves, and his presence in the backfield remains central to the Packers’ identity. If the knee injury lingers, it could shift the balance of Green Bay’s season.
