The Green Bay Packers are on a win streak again, as they remain undefeated since coming off a bye in Week 5. After taking down the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field in Week 6, Matt LaFleur guided his team to a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
However, the Packers once again struggled to dispose of a team many expected them to steamroll.
The Cardinals established a 10-point lead in the first half, which was cut down to seven after Lucas Havrisik drained a franchise-record-setting 61-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.
Green Bay got it going in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter, where it outscored the Cardinals, 14-3. Running back Josh Jacobs’ rushing score with under two minutes left in the period gave Green Bay the lead for good — and eventually, the victory.
The Packers already experienced some difficulties as a team even before the game against the Cardinals started. They had a very long flight delay heading to Arizona, as their airplane reportedly had mechanical issues.
Then, in the Arizona game itself, the Packers needed a second-half surge to avoid what would have been a highly disappointing road loss.
“From the moment we got on the trip, nothing seemed to go right,” LaFleur said after the game, per the Associated Press (via ESPN). “Then in-game, there were a lot of things that didn’t go right. But the guys kept battling and that’s what it takes in this league.”
Nevertheless, Green Bay will take a win anyway it can. Now 4-1-1 through seven weeks of the 2025 NFL season, LaFleur and the Packers will next travel to Pittsburgh for a matchup against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
