Packers named as possible trade landing spot of 15-TD star

Over at Pro Football Network, Bjorn Bergstrom floated the idea of the Packers trading for Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane, who is having another strong season.

With the Dolphins in disarray amid a 1-4 start, not to mention their loss of superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to a season-ending injury, they could be at a point where it just makes sense for them to sell ahead of the NFL trade deadline. To that end, Achane appears to be someone who could attract much attention from other teams.

As a team that made an all-in move to acquire edge rusher Micah Parsons before the season, the Packers would be wise to add to their running back room before the trade deadline and the stretch run to the playoffs.

While Jacobs is a bruiser, Achane would be a terrific change-of-pace reserve and a significant threat in the passing game. If he were to land in Green Bay, Achane would immediately become one of the best third-down running backs in the NFL.

Green Bay still has Josh Jacobs, so it’s interesting how the team could find a role for the 23-year-old Achane, who has rushed for 15 touchdowns so far in his NFL career if such a trade pushes through.

Achane, who was taken in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Dolphins, will not be a free agent until the end of the 2026 season.
