Packers OC hints HC Matt LaFleur may like offense better with Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich isn't hiding that head coach Matt LaFleur likely hopes his offensive scheme will be fully embraced by Jordan Love more so than it was by Aaron Rodgers.

Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Stenavich admitted while speaking with reporters Tuesday that Green Bay's offense will likely have a different look with Love atop the depth chart instead of Rodgers.

"And it's not just because of not having Aaron Rodgers," Stenavich explained. "It might just be these other pieces that we've added as well. So, again, it's (organized team activities) right now so we're just going to kind of see how it all fits and once we figure out kind of how we're going to attack defenses, then we'll roll from there. But I think it might."

LaFleur first joined the Packers as head coach shortly after the 2018 regular season and served as the team's primary offensive play-caller throughout the past four campaigns.

However, Rodgers routinely used hand signals and other methods over the years to change receiving routes, blocking schemes and other aspects of plays at the line of scrimmage.

LaFleur understandably allowed Rodgers to handle in-game offensive CEO duties as a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player who first entered the league during the 2005 draft and turned 39 years old this past December.

To compare, Love is a 24-year-old who has attempted 83 total regular-season passes as a pro.

Stenavich insisted Tuesday that "pretty much all of" the playbook is "on the table" for Love, who was Rodgers' backup over the past three seasons.

"We're starting on Step 1 instead of starting at Step 8, where you can start with Aaron Rodgers," Stenavich added about the situation. "So, you're going to take a step back and you're just going to keep working ahead. Can't really look at the end result right now."

That "end result" may be Green Bay's offense more resembling what LaFleur originally envisioned back in January 2019.
