Packers quarterback Jordan Love may be one of the biggest winners of the offseason across the NFL, following Green Bay’s offseason.
Green Bay, over the past six months not just significantly upgraded Love’s supporting cast but also relieved immense pressure on the third-year starting quarterback by landing All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys.
Love’s ceiling and the Packers’ potential in 2025 is extremely lofty, especially because Green Bay now has the pieces in place to truly play an explosive brand of complementary football.
Arguably, the biggest addition to Love’s supporting cast, and the Packers’ offense this offseason, is first-round rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden.
Golden has flashed No. 1 receiver upside throughout an impressive training camp and preseason, and could be primed to make an instant impact as early as Week 1, according to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.
“Rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden should get a lot of targets,” Fowler writes for ESPN . “The Packers’ first-round pick has greatly impressed coaches so far. “Phenomenal,” one Packers source told me of Golden’s presence. “Makes a wow play every day.” Golden is listed as a starter already and the Packers aren’t hiding theihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B47dpcmd14&t=19sr affection for him. It’s not like one of those situations where you hear, “Oh, he’s a rookie, he’s coming along.” It’s, “No, this guy can play.” The Packers will utilize two-TE sets often and Romeo Doubs is still a prime option, but Golden’s talent looks undeniable.”
During his final season at Texas, Golden averaged a career-high 17 yards per reception. If Golden can come close to replicating that level of production, the vertical passing game is going to see a significant upgrade for Love and the Packers.
The Packers’ Super Bowl hopes got a boost from the Parsons trade, but it could come down to Love and Golden forming an instant and prolific connection to reach those lofty aspirations.
