Packers playing starters to 'keep the wheels turning,' despite clinching top seed

The Green Bay Packers will be the top seed in the NFC, regardless if they win or lose against the Detroit Lions in Week 18. But coach Matt LaFleur is planning to play his starters in the regular season finale anyway and the team's biggest stars say they're on board with the plan.

"The biggest part for me is just not being out two weeks before going into a heated playoff matchup," wide receiver Davante Adams said, via Packers.com. "I just don't like having that type of time off going into a game like that.

"Obviously there's risk, but there's risk going across the street, so at this point, you can't run from me. If you're scared, go to church and just do what you gotta do. We're not thinking too much about it. Just wanna keep the wheels turning and get ready for playoffs."

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers echoed that point, saying that the plan is "just keeping the momentum going" into the postseason.

While getting the win doesn't have much impact for the 13-3 Packers, there's still some incentive for Adams and Rodgers to play well. Rodgers is the favorite to win the NFL MVP award for the fourth time in his career, while Adams needs only 22 yards to break Jordy Nelson's single-season franchise record.
