Packers’ practice highlights concerns for Jordan Love and other key offensive players

Wednesday’s practice wasn't a good indication about the Green Bay Packers overall health status going into a major game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The biggest piece of news is that quarterback Jordan Love didn't participate with his teammates. After suffering a groin injury that made him miss the second half of the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Love just rode an exercise bike during team stretch.

Earlier on Wednesday, NFL Network's insider Ian Rapoport reported that Love has a real shot and is 'determined to play.' It will depend on how he feels during the week. The Packers still have two more practices before the game, so it's mostly a wait-and-see mode at this point.

Other concerns

Jordan Love was not the only offensive player absent at practice. Running back Josh Jacobs, left tackle Rasheed Walker, left guard Elgton Jenkins, and center Josh Myers were all non-participants.

For Jenkins it's probably not a major issue, since he's been kept out most Wednesdays as a veteran rest. Last week, he was listed because of a glute injury. Center Josh Myers is handling a wrist injury. He was questionable on Sunday, but ended up playing against the Jaguars.

Josh Jacobs got injured during the game, but it's reportedly nothing serious either. He said in locker room he will be ready to play. Rasheed Walker wasn't on last week's injury report and played every offensive snap in Jacksonville, but is listed with a knee injury.

Moreover, rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd, who's already eligible to return from injured reserve, is not healthy yet. He has an ankle injury and has not been designated for return.

Defensive problems

Cornerback Jaire Alexander left the game on Sunday with a knee injury. The tests came back clean, so it's not a long-term concern. However, the All-Pro didn't practice on Sunday.

Rookie safety Evan Williams, ruled out during the game with a hamstring injury, wasn't in the activity either.

The Packers are 6-2 in the season, second place in the NFC North. If they beat the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field, they take over as the first place in the Division — but the path for a victory is much harder with so many injuries.
