The Green Bay Packers drafted Christian Watson with the No. 34 pick in 2022 to hopefully blossom into a star wide receiver for Aaron Rodgers. Romeo Doubs was drafted almost 100 picks later in the fourth round, and he was expected to be more of a project and a wild-card pick for the Packers.
So far through 2022, though, the roles of both rookies has reversed. Doubs had an explosive preseason and broke out this past weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with eight catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Watson has struggled with lingering injuries so far throughout his career. He also suffered a drop that he'll probably remember for the rest of his life.
Watson still has time to prove himself, but so far so good for Doubs.
Speaking of the impressive start to his career, the touchdown he caught against the Buccaneers was his first as an NFL receiver.
That's cool for any receiver, but catching it from Aaron Rodgers with Tom Brady on the sideline watching? That had to be special for Doubs.
Making the story of his first touchdown catch even more special is the fact that Rodgers seemed to have called it before the game, at least according to a story he told on "The Pat McAfee Show."
#Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said on the @PatMcAfeeShow just now that he went up to WR Romeo Doubs before Sunday’s win against Tampa Bay and said “great day to catch your first touchdown today I think”.

Doubs smiled and that came true in the 1st quarter.
Doubs will always remember that touchdown catch. Perhaps Rodgers will too...as the one he called.
