Packers QB Aaron Rodgers throws some shade at NFC North fans

If you are the fan of an NFC North team hoping that this is the year your team is going to unseat the Green Bay Packers from the top of the division, Aaron Rodgers is here to remind you that you are probably going to be wrong.

Again.

"All the other teams in the NFC North, it seems like every single year, I think their fanbase and their teams feel like, 'This is our year to win the North,'" said Rodgers ahead of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

"Hasn't really been the case during my time, for the most part."

He is not wrong, at least whenever Rodgers has been healthy and played a full season.

The Packers have dominated the NFC North during Rodgers' run as their starting quarterback, including three straight titles heading into the 2022 season. The Packers have won the North eight times since 2008, Rodgers' first year as a starting quarterback.

No other team has won it more than four times (Minnesota has four North titles during that time; Chicago has two) during that stretch, while one team (Detroit) has not won it at all. All eight of those Packers division titles have come over the past 11 years, and in one of those years where they did not win (2017) Rodgers was limited to just seven games due to injury.

In other words: When Rodgers is healthy, the Packers typically win the division.

After an offseason of trade rumors and retirement speculation, Rodgers signed a new contract with the Packers. Despite that, there is still some concern with Green Bay's offense heading into the season given how the wide receiver group has been overhauled after the trade of Devante Adams. Green Bay also used its two first-round picks on defensive players instead of adding more weapons around Rodgers.

Even so, Rodgers is still an elite player coming off back-to-back MVP years, giving Green Bay a massive edge over every other team in the division. The Vikings are probably going to be their biggest competition.
