Green Bay Packers star QB Jordan Love suffered a ligament injury in his left hand during their preseason loss to the New York Jets.
He already underwent surgery to address that issue, and he will be out for the next week or so.
However, while the injury isn't believed to be too serious and he didn't hurt his throwing hand, we may not get to see him anymore until the regular season.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, head coach Matt LaFleur all but ruled him out of the final two preseason games.
"Love was originally scheduled to sit out Saturday’s preseason game against the Colts, but play in the preseason finale against the Seahawks after next Thursday’s joint practice with Seattle in Green Bay," wrote Schneidman. "LaFleur said that it’s 'highly unlikely' Love plays against the Seahawks, even if he practices next week, and he doesn’t know for certain whether Love will partake in next week’s joint practice."
The Packers are dealing with multiple injuries in their wide receiver corps, and not having their starting quarterback there, even if it's just in practice, isn't positive at all.
They have more than enough weapons to get by, including first-round gem Matthew Golden, but these reps matter, and they can't afford to get off to a slow start to the season.
They will kick things off with a divisional date with the Detroit Lions, and while they fully expect Jordan Love to be out there for that game, there might be some rust to shake off.
