Packers’ Rushing Attack Hits Level Unseen Since 1946

The Green Bay Packers have run for 419 yards through seven games. That works out to 59.9 per game, last in the NFL.

The 1946 Detroit Lions are the last team to finish a season below that average. They ran for 467 yards in 11 games.

The San Diego Chargers averaged 66.4 in 2000, the lowest full-season mark since 1947.

Green Bay has stayed at 86 rushing yards or fewer in all seven games. The Packers ran for 146 yards over their first three, a franchise low. The 1994 team had held the mark with 169.

On Sept. 24, the Atlanta Falcons held Green Bay to 17 rushing yards on nine carries in a 35-14 win at Lambeau Field. That was the Packers' lowest total since Dec. 26, 1999, when they ran for 12 yards at Tampa Bay.

Josh Jacobs sat out Weeks 1 through 6 on the NFL commissioner's exempt list. The league placed him on the list Aug. 30.

It removed him Oct. 19 with its personal conduct investigation still open, and Green Bay activated him Saturday.

Jacobs carried 11 times for 36 yards in the 20-17 loss at Ford Field. His longest run went 10 yards, and he added five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Green Bay's average moved from 59.8 to 59.9 rushing yards per game in his debut.

Jacobs has made three Pro Bowls. He ran for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns in 15 games last season.

Jordan Love is second in the NFL with 1,958 passing yards. He said Tuesday there was more available in both phases of the offense.

"We've made it by in a couple of these games, we've leaned on the passing game and I think the passing game has been good," Love said. "I think pass game, run game, there's still a lot more out there for us, but if we want to be the team we want to be, we've definitely got to improve in the run game."

The Carolina Panthers allow 153.2 rushing yards per game, the most in the NFL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ran for 258 yards against Carolina on Sunday.
