Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs could be one of the most coveted players on the trade market over the next several weeks.
After Green Bay chose Matthew Golden in the first round of this spring’s draft, and a crowded wide receiver room about to compete for snaps, depth chart positioning, and roster spots, Doubs could become expendable for Green Bay.
Doubs, 25, is entering his fourth NFL season and has caught 147 passes for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns so far in his career, and could be a top target for teams looking to bolster their receiving corps this fall.
Here’s a look at his best fits and most likely trade destinations.
Pittsburgh has undertaken a dramatic overhaul this offseason.
After trading for DK Metcalf, the Steelers dealt George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are both elsewhere this season, and Najee Harris is no longer a focal point of the Steelers’ ground game, he’ll be anchoring the Chargers’ backfield. With Aaron Rodgers’ arrival, Doubs could be an ideal fit to pair opposite Metcalf to create a pair of consistent after the catch weapons and deep threats for the former MVP quarterback in 2025.
This is Giants head coach Brian Daboll’s make-or-break season, and beyond Malik Nabers, the Giants’ receiving corps lacks consistent playmakers.
New York enters the season with Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, and Wan’Dale Robinson as the top receiving options for quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart, but Doubs could provide quality and reliable depth. Last season, Doubs averaged just over 10 yards per reception, but his 12.3 average yards depth of target ranked 32nd across the league, which could make him an ideal fit for Wilson’s propensity for stretching the field vertically.
The Chargers were stunned by top wide receiver Mike Williams’ sudden retirement on the eve of training camp getting underway.
Los Angeles has attempted to surround quarterback Justin Herbert with young talent in the form of Ladd McConkey, and is hopeful Quentin Johnston makes a big leap in his third season. But, the Chargers lack consistency in the passing game. While head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers may lean heavily into the ground game after selecting Omarion Hampton with the No. 22 overall pick in this spring’s draft, Doubs is the kind of talent who could elevate the rest of the receiving corps and the passing game more broadly.
