Panthers rookie WR is set to head into training camp with even more to prove after getting snubbed from projected All-Rookie honors

The Carolina Panthers offense is still multiple pieces away from truly breaking out, and having some growth out of quarterback Bryce Young will go a long way toward achieving that sooner than later.

Which is why the Panthers have invested heavily over the last two years adding talent to the offense around the young QB, whether it was on the offensive line or adding more young weapons to the passing game.

The team's most recent investment on offense was first-round wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who's tracking to have a major role in the Panthers' offense in 2025.

Even tough Carolina drafted Xavier Legette early in the draft the year prior, the front office realized adding more talent around Young was a necessity, so enter a true X-WR to the offense who can help be alpha for the entire unit.

Even during the pre-draft process, McMillan had some doubters concerned about his speed factor and other traits. The Panthers overlooked those concerns and still made him a Top-10 selection in hopes that he can become their own version of Tampa Bay Buccaneers' wide receiver Mike Evans one day.

Months after the draft and getting acclimated with his new home, McMillan is still facing some doubters he's going to have to prove wrong.

Tet McMillan Snubbed From Projected All-Rookie Team

On Wednesday, NFL.com's Gennaro Filice released his projected All-Rookie offense and defense for the 2025 season and opted out of including the Panthers' first-round selection in favor of another Day 1 selection and a third-round selection.

The two wide receivers chosen to make the list were Jacksonville Jaguars' Travis Hunter and New England Patriots' Kyle Williams.

Hunter is understandable. The guy is going to be a freak and take the league by storm on both sides of the ball throughout his career. But, will he be a more productive WR for his offense playing behind Brian Thomas Jr. compared to what McMillan will do?

As for Williams, that's just a pick for the sake of being different. The Patriots' rookie will be playing in a crowded WR room with a veteran in Stefon Diggs leading the unit in a weak passing offense.

Just look at ESPN's Mike Clay's projections for the 2025 season. He had McMillan finishing the year with 1,019 yards and six touchdowns. Meanwhile, he projected Hunter finishing with 967 yards and touchdowns and projected Williams to have589 yards and three touchdowns.

Given his upcoming role in the offense, McMillan's numbers should easily rank above Hunter and Williams, and likely lead the entire rookie class. This was a little oversight in the predictions and McMillan will look to prove everyone wrong again in 2025.
