Pat McAfee says he was served by Brett Favre

Retired quarterback Brett Favre is apparently going ahead with at least one of his reported lawsuits. 

As shared by Sean Keeley of Awful Announcing, media personality Pat McAfee told his audience during Monday's edition of "The Pat McAfee Show" that he was served by Favre over the weekend. 

"Came back from Hawaii to Indiana on Saturday," McAfee said during a segment of the program. "Slept. Woke up on Sunday. Lady at my front door. Open the door. 'I am so sorry. I am a fan of the show. I just work for a company that was hired. These are for you.'" 

McAfee continued: "It’s officially official. I have been served by Brett Favre. Here we go."

It was learned earlier this month that Favre filed defamation lawsuits against McAfee, Fox Sports' Shannon Sharpe and Mississippi state auditor Shad White over statements made about Favre's alleged involvement in a welfare scandal regarding the construction of a volleyball complex at the University of Southern Mississippi, his alma mater and where his daughter played volleyball. Favre has never been charged with any crime and has denied knowingly benefiting from welfare funds. 

John Barr and Anthony Olivieri of ESPN mentioned on Feb. 9 that one lawsuit accuses McAfee of calling Favre a "thief" who was "stealing from poor people in Mississippi" during his show. 

Back on Feb. 10, McAfee vowed that he'd eventually see Favre in court. Per the Barrett Sports Media website, Eric Herschmann, Favre’s lawyer, later suggested to Jason Whitlock of The Blaze TV that the legal matter could "bankrupt" McAfee. However, at least one expert believes Favre faces "a very high burden" as it pertains to the lawsuits. 

McAfee added on Monday that he is "excited to see how it all goes" following this latest development. 

"I don’t know if that’s a normal feeling that people get whenever they get sued," McAfee continued. "But I’m like actually intrigued on how the whole process…I take everything as a chance to learn."
