Patrick Mahomes was the beneficiary of a weak roughing the passer call during his Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., in Week 2 on Sunday.

The Chiefs lost the Super Bowl rematch at home against Philly 20-17. KC had the ball down 20-10 with under four minutes to go and were facing a 3rd-and-13 situation. Mahomes threw an incomplete pass intended for Hollywood Brown and got hit around his shoulder pads right after he released the ball. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell was called for roughing the passer.

The call gave the Chiefs an automatic first down and allowed them to continue their possession. They ended up scoring a touchdown to make it 20-17.

Philly got the ball back and was able to gain a first down, which allowed them to run out the clock on their 2-0 start to the season. The Chiefs are now 0-2.
