The Kansas City Chiefs ended their two‑game losing streak in dramatic fashion, rallying from an 11‑point fourth‑quarter deficit to beat the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 in overtime. Patrick Mahomes completed 29 of 46 passes for 352 yards and an interception.
Running back Kareem Hunt carried the ball 30 times for 104 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Rashee Rice made eight catches for 141 yards. Kicker Harrison Butker converted five field goals, including the 27‑yard winner with one minute, 57 seconds left in OT.
This victory was a vital one for Kansas City. Had the Chiefs lost, they would have fallen to 5-6, further jeopardizing their playoff aspirations. Instead, they improved to 6-5.
But despite the timely win, their position in the AFC worsened: they dropped to 10th in the conference standings, down from ninth the week before. In the AFC West, they remain third behind the 9-2 Denver Broncos and 7-4 Los Angeles Chargers, both of whom were on a bye.
With six games remaining, the Chiefs still control their postseason destiny, but the margin for error is slim. Their remaining schedule includes a Week 13 trip to the Dallas Cowboys (5-5-1) on Thanksgiving Day, a home matchup against the Houston Texans (6-5), another home game against the Chargers (7-4), a road trip to the Tennessee Titans (1-10), a Week 17 showdown at home with the Broncos (9-2) and a season-ending trip to face the Las Vegas Raiders (2-9).
To maximize their chances, head coach Andy Reid’s team must remain perfect and aim to finish 12-5.
The Chiefs actually dropped a spot in the AFC playoff seeding despite their Week 12 win over the Colts, but their chances of making the postseason are looking better. https://t.co/qHPr8UvmEq pic.twitter.com/fljUbUAiD7

Crucially, Kansas City has never missed the playoffs in the Patrick Mahomes era – during his tenure as starter, they’ve made seven straight AFC Championship Games and won three Super Bowls.
Their next challenge comes in Week 13 on the road against the Cowboys, who enter the game after an impressive 21-point comeback victory against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET Thursday on CBS.
