Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is hoping to put one lingering question behind him once he gets on the field Monday night.

Mahomes is set to play when the Chiefs open their season at home against the Denver Broncos on Monday, and expressed a fervent wish for one question to no longer come up at his press conferences. The quarterback dropped the line just as he was walking off at the conclusion of his media availability Thursday.

“Hopefully I’m done with questions about the leg,” Mahomes said.

The leg, of course, was the focus of much of Mahomes’ offseason work after he suffered a torn ACL late last season. The quarterback was adamant that he would be back healthy for the start of 2026, and he has cleared that barrier. The next step will be whether or not he is still as effective as ever after the surgery and rehab.

Mahomes is certainly confident he will be, as are the Chiefs. Andy Reid has essentially said the quarterback looked like his old self during preseason, though the quarterback did not suit up for any of the games. All eyes will be on him Monday night to see if that is really the case.
