Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Chiefs playing on Thanksgiving is not a common occurrence. This will be the fourth time since 1995 and the first time since 2006 that Kansas City has played on Thanksgiving.

The last time was a 19-10 win over the Denver Broncos in 2006.

Mahomes and the Chiefs just defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 23-20, in overtime to move to 6-5 and keep their playoff hopes alive in a tight AFC race, and now they will play Thursday.

The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, which was established by the Chiefs QB in 2019, is giving back to the community for the holiday.

The foundation revealed a special announcement for Thanksgiving.

"This Thanksgiving week, Shelter KC and the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation hosted our annual Family Feast! With the help of some amazing volunteers, we were able to provide over 300 food bags to families in need. A huge THANK YOU to our volunteers and partners for making a difference this holiday season," the foundation posted.

The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation is dedicated to children and aims to improve "health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other charitable causes."

The foundation provided food to hundreds of families in a touching gesture for the holiday.

LeBron James' Foundation also did similar volunteer work, giving food and turkeys to families in need in Akron, Ohio, the hometown of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

The Chiefs and Cowboys will kick off on Thanksgiving Day at 4:30 pm ET with the game being broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
