Another day of the Men’s College World Series (MCWS) is underway, with Arkansas pitcher Gage Wood stealing the spotlight so far.
Day four was kicked off by No. 3 Arkansas defeating unseeded Murray State after a near-perfect game from Wood. He dominated on the mound, holding Murray State hitless for just the third no-hitter in MCWS history and first since 1960.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a message on social media regarding Woods’ performance.

It was the first complete game of his collegiate career as he recorded a career-high 19 strikeouts on 119 pitches. Before hitting a batter with a pitch in the eighth inning, Wood pitched seven perfect innings. However, he persevered, recording five more strikeouts to earn the amazing no-hitter.
Both offenses were neutralized, with Wood and starting Racers pitcher Isaac Silva both delivering strong performances. It took some time, but the Razorbacks broke through during the third inning after first baseman Reese Robinett doubled into the outfield gap. Robinett reached home plate following a pair of singles to set the score at 1-0.
Silva performed well throughout his performance, posting seven strikeouts in six innings, allowing just six hits and one run. He was replaced by Graham Kelham to begin the seventh inning, and that’s where Arkansas added to the lead.
Shortstop Wehiwa Aloy hit a crucial double to bring a run in. After an error by Murray State’s defense, Logan Maxwell scored the team's third run of the day.
Wood continued his dominance into the ninth inning, slamming the door shut with an impressive two strikeouts.
