Patrick Mahomes’ Historic Development Revealed Amid Chiefs-Raiders

The Kansas City Chiefs came into Week 7 of the NFL season with a 3-3 record and plenty of momentum following a convincing 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions last week. Standing in their way of getting on the right side of .500 for the first time this season is their AFC West foe, the Las Vegas Raiders.

Despite the Chiefs having more success in the past five years than the Raiders have had in the last couple of decades, the Raiders have won two out of the last three meetings between the teams. Even then, since bursting onto the scene in 2018, the two-time NFL MVP has always seemed play well against them. Prior to Sunday, Mahomes held a 12-2 record against Las Vegas.

In what can only be considered as a terrifying sight for other NFL teams, Mahomes appears to have found a new gear as of late. While he came into Sunday with 11 touchdowns, eight of them have come within the last three weeks. His streak of throwing touchdowns all over the place continued on Sunday as well.

By the time halftime rolled around, Mahomes had thrown for three scores, and moved up an impressive list when it comes to touchdown passes thrown against the Raiders. As revealed by CBS Sports, Mahomes is tied for second all-time when it comes to career touchdown passes against the Raiders.

"Patrick Mahomes has thrown 36 career Pass TD vs Raiders," read the post. "Philip Rivers (49) is the only QB in NFL history with more vs them."

According to Statmuse, Mahomes' third touchdown on Sunday saw him leap Denver Broncos legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway (35), and tie him with another Hall of Famer in Dan Fouts.

Considering the Raiders again look to be one of the weaker teams in the NFL, Mahomes could very well close in on Rivers quicker than most would expect. Mahomes left the game with the game well in hand, the Chiefs leading 31-0. He did not throw a fourth touchdown pass.

With a win on Sunday, the Chiefs would move to 4-3, while a loss would drop the Raiders to 2-5.
