Although he's arguably the biggest star today in all of football, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes never forgets about his alma mater. He constantly shows his support for Texas Tech Red Raiders teams, including the school's softball team that just finished playing in the 2025 Women’s College World Series championship series.

The Red Raiders fell short in the finals, a they lost to the Texas Longhorns in Game 3 last Friday at Devon Park, Oklahoma City, 10-4.

As successful as Mahomes is in the pros, having won three Super Bowl titles and as many Super Bowl Most Valuable Player awards, he also knows what it's like to lose in the big stage, so he can relate to what Texas Tech softball team is going through at the moment. He has two Super Bowl losses, including last February's debacle against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Still, there is a lot to look forward to for Texas Tech softball fans like Mahomes.

Just a day after losing to the Longhorns, Texas Tech scored a big offseason victory, with All-American catcher Jasmyn Burns announcing her commitment to play for the Red Raiders.

"guns up for my next chapter!! can’t wait to start this journey. AGTG!! ❤️ #wreckem," Burns shared in a post on X.

That post was shared by several X users, including none other than the six-time Pro Bowl quarterback.

Burns is transferring to Lubbock, Burns played for two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes. She scored All-Big Ten Freshman honors in her first season in college in 2024, when she hit .298 and recorded nine home runs. She then took a big leap in her sophomore year. In 2025, Burns hit .455 and racked up 25 homers in 58 games.
