The win marked his first PGA Tour title since 2019 following a challenging period that included brain surgery in 2023 to remove a lesion. Woodland’s return to the winner’s circle was widely celebrated as one of the most inspiring comeback stories in sports, given the severity of his health battle and his road back to competition.  

Woodland’s victory resonated across the sports world, drawing praise from athletes like Mahomes, who took to social media to congratulate the 41-year-old veteran.
