Patrick Mahomes has spent much of the offseason focused on recovery after suffering a devastating knee injury late in the 2025 campaign. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback went down in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers after being hit low while stepping into a throw, with his leg bending awkwardly underneath him.

The incident resulted in ACL and LCL tears and prematurely ended his season. Mahomes’ injury was a major blow for the Chiefs, who are now hoping he returns to full health in time.

Since the setback, the two-time league MVP has made steady progress in his rehabilitation. On Wednesday, he shared a video of himself throwing a football at the Chiefs’ facility during a workout session, marking a significant milestone in his recovery process.

The footage quickly generated optimism among fans, with many believing that Mahomes remains on track to return in time for Week 1 of the 2026 season, barring any setbacks.

While his focus has remained on getting back to full health, Mahomes has also stayed active away from football. He has been spotted attending major sporting events and has continued to engage with moments across the sports world on social media

That continued on Sunday following Gary Woodland’s emotional comeback victory at the Houston Open. The win marked his first PGA Tour title since 2019 following a challenging period that included brain surgery in 2023 to remove a lesion. Woodland’s return to the winner’s circle was widely celebrated as one of the most inspiring comeback stories in sports, given the severity of his health battle and his road back to competition.

Woodland’s victory resonated across the sports world, drawing praise from athletes like Mahomes, who took to social media to congratulate the 41-year-old veteran.

“Congrats!!! @GaryWoodland Awesome to witness the comeback and getting back in the winners circle!! ”

The reaction comes as no surprise given Mahomes’ strong connection to the sport. He is widely known as an avid golf enthusiast, frequently playing during the offseason and even competing in high-profile events. He has invested heavily in the sport, even having a private golf setup at his home.

Mahomes has also expanded his footprint in golf commercially, recently becoming a global ambassador for Adidas Golf.
