The Kansas City Chiefs were beaten soundly in the Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles last season, and Patrick Mahomes says he knows what the NFC team to make things tough on him.

The Chiefs and Eagles are set to play on Sunday in Week 2 of the NFL season at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., in a rematch of the Super Bowl. Mahomes talked with reporters on Wednesday ahead of the team’s big Week 2 game. Mahomes gave credit to the Eagles for disrupting his timing in February’s meeting, which he cited as a big factor.

“They had a great game plan of disrupting my timing,” Mahomes said.

“You have to learn from it. It sucks,” he added.

Mahomes knows that he has a tough matchup ahead on Sunday and praised this year’s Eagles defense.

“They’re good at every aspect on defense,” Mahomes said of this year’s Eagles team, via Nate Taylor. “It’s going to take our best.”

Mahomes went 21/32 for 257 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the Super Bowl. He was sacked six times as he faced pressure up front throughout the game. Mahomes’ final stats don’t reflect the story of the game, which is that the Eagles dominated and were leading 40-6 until KC added two touchdowns in the final three minutes to make the final score look more respectable.

Philly is coming off a 24-20 win over the Cowboys in Week 1. KC lost 27-21 to the Chargers in Brazil.
