Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce helped the Kansas City Chiefs to their third win of the 2025 NFL season, jumping to 3-3 after defeating Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions 30-17 in Week 6's edition of "Sunday Night Football." Mahomes finished the game with 257 passing yards and three touchdowns with another score on the ground, while Kelce brought in team-highs of six catches for 78 yards.
Mahomes and Kelce have become two of the NFL’s biggest stars during their time with the Chiefs, winning three Super Bowls in five appearances together. But their impact extends beyond the field. Both have launched foundations to help improve children’s lives — Mahomes founded “15 and the Mahomies Foundation” in 2019, while Kelce started his “87 & Running” four years earlier.
But Mahomes and Kelce weren’t done there, recently announcing that the big red Giving Machine will return to Union Station for a fifth consecutive holiday season. From Nov. 22 through Jan. 1, the vending machine will be set up at the historic Kansas City train station, but instead of buying something for yourself, you can purchase an item to donate to someone in need.
Items available for purchase include a blanket for a displaced refugee, dentures for an elderly person in need, a pair of warm boots for a veteran, and emergency meals for the homebound. Giving Machines are now located in more than 100 cities worldwide across 13 countries, not just Kansas City, with nine charities participating this year.
"Kansas City, the Giving Machines are back," both Mahomes and Kelce said. "Every donation is a touchdown for those in need right here in our Chiefs community. Head down to Union Station. Together, we can light the world."
"Hey Kansas City, the big, red Giving Machine is coming back to Union Station!" Giving Machine Kansas City posted on Instagram with the help of Mahomes, Kelce, Andy Reid and Chris Jones. "Here's Big Red himself, along with Mahomes, Kelce, and Jones, with the big announcement. We're excited that the following charities will be featured this year, November 22–January 1 (with a soft opening Nov 18!)"
The nonprofits will receive 100% of the donations, with up to 10% going to administrative costs. 2024 was the biggest year for Giving Machines, with over 850,000 visitors donating more than 490,000 items, raising over $16 million.
Up next for Mahomes, Kelce and the Chiefs, a Week 7 battle with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
