The New England Patriots are coming off back-to-back four-win seasons, so their getting primetime games during the 2025 season wasn't a given.
However, it's clear that the NFL is expecting a lot more from the team this season given all the changes they have made this offseason.
On Wednesday, before the Patriots full schedule is released at 8 p.m. ET, there have been numerous leaks. And with that, there are already two primetime games for New England.
The Patriots will reportedly be playing Monday Night Football at home against the New York Giants in December, Art Stapleton reports. MassLive's Mark Daniels confirmed the news.
Then, there is a rumor that the Patriots will be hosting the New York Jets at home in Week 11 to kick off the week for Thursday Night Football, per OzzyNFL.
During the 2024 season, New England only had one primetime game, which was also against the Jets in Week 3 at MetLife Stadium.
However, the Patriots have changed much of the roster, starting with the coaching staff. They hired Mike Vrabel as the head coach this season, who brought in Terrell Williams and Josh McDaniels to serve as the defensive and offensive coordinator respectively. They then released all the players who remained from the Super Bowl winning days, instead relying on youth to help start this rebuild.
And of course, there is Drake Maye, who already showed a lot of promise in his rookie season despite not even playing for a full year. So, the jump to Year 2 could get the Patriots to that next level.
Two primetime games and possibly more to come?
That means a lot is expected of the Patriots this season, who have one of the easiest strength of schedules in the NFL. Now, they just have to perform to that level.
The start of the 2025 season is getting closer.
