Recently, the New England Patriots picked up a wild 23-20 win over the Buffalo Bills that officially put the NFL world on notice. The game marked the second contest this season for star cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who missed the first few games due to a nagging hamstring injury. In the game vs. Buffalo, Gonzalez recorded 6 total tackles and a pass deflection.
Although he is one of the elite players at his position when on the field, injuries have been a problem for Gonzalez throughout his young career so far.
Unfortunately, that trend continued with an update out of Thursday's Patriots practice leading into this weekend's game against the New Orleans Saints.
"Injury to watch: #Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez was limited today with a hamstring injury. He was full yesterday," reported NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X.
The Patriots also confirmed this news with their official injury report, which indeed had Gonzalez listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
The Saints don't necessarily have a lethal passing attack (or anything) this year, so having Gonzalez out of the lineup for that game likely wouldn't be a huge deal for a Patriots team that is riding high coming off the win in Buffalo. However, in order for the Patriots to break through and make the playoffs this year, they'll need Gonzalez to be a healthy participant.
Still, the Patriots have a lot to be excited about at the present moment, with Drake Maye looking like a future star, carving up the Bills' defense for a game-winning drive last week.
The Patriots now enter an especially easy chunk of their schedule, which begins with Sunday's game against the Saints at 1:00 p.m. ET.
