Patriots bring back Hunter Henry on a three-year contract extension

The New England Patriots have brought back a key player at an important position before the start of free agency.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport report that the Patriots are finalizing a deal to remain in New England. It is a three year deal worth $27 million with a max value of $30 million.

The Patriots were set to have no top tight ends on the roster, but bringing back Henry was very important for the team next season.

The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed further reports that Henry will have $16 million fully guaranteed in the new deal.

Henry first joined the Patriots in 2021 on a three-year contract, finishing with 133 receptions for 1,531 yards with 17 touchdowns in 48 games during his time in New England.

La’Michael Pettway was the only tight end set to remain on the Patriots roster since Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown will also be free agents.

Henry was named a team captain during the 2023 season, so considering all the changes to the team, it is important that they will have this veteran leader back.
