The New England Patriots released cornerback J.C. Jackson earlier this month. But that doesn't mean the door is completely closed.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Patriots and Jackson have mutual interest in a return.
"Could be a down-the-line development for the player and team, but something to keep in mind as New England's cornerback outlook shapes up this offseason," Fowler wrote.

The initial move earlier this month to release Jackson saved over $13 million in cap space. And based on the way last season ended, this was a move that everyone expected the franchise to make.
But it is clear that new head coach Jerod Mayo has a lot of respected for the cornerback.
"I love J.C.," Mayo said at the Combine.(via The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed). "Coached him, saw him develop into a man. We'll see how that goes going forward, but heck of a football player. Two years removed from injury."
The 2023 season was one of ups and downs for Jackson, with the cornerback having started the season with the Los Angles Chargers, but was traded to the Patriots in the beginning of October. With the injuries, he earned a spot in the lineup quickly, but it started to go downhill quickly.
Jackson was benched for part of the game during New England's loss to Washington and then was forced to stay home while the team traveled to Germany the following week.
It was later confirmed that it was disciplinary, with Jackson explaining that it was because he missed “bed checks” at the Patriots team hotel prior to their game against the Commanders.
However, he put all that behind him and returned to the field. But then he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list a little while later.
But it seems that the two sides could make their way back to each other once again. So let's see what happens.
