Jones, who earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie in 2021, was dealing with back spasms earlier in September but has suited up in all three contests this season. The Alabama product has made 20 straight starts to begin his NFL career.
The 24-year-old Jones has gone 64-for-97 with 786 passing yards and two touchdowns, adding 14 carries for 37 yards and a score, but is also tied for the league lead with five interceptions.
Hoyer is in his 14th NFL season (eighth with New England) but hasn't taken any snaps yet this year. The 36-year-old's last start came in 2020 in place of Cam Newton, as he went 15-for-24 with 130 passing yards, 0 touchdowns, and one interception in a 26-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
