Patriots Reportedly Sign UFL Offensive Lineman

The New England Patriots' offensive line was atrocious in 2024. It was a need the team addressed this offseason by signing center Garrett Bradbury and offensive tackle Morgan Moses, and then drafting offensive tackle Will Campbell in the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, the Patriots aren't done adding to the offensive line just yet. Numerous ideas have been floated regarding the Patriots' potential additions before the season starts to bolster the protection of quarterback Drake Maye.

According to multiple reports, the Patriots chose another route and reportedly signed offensive lineman Yasir Durant, who spent the last two seasons in the UFL with the DC Defenders.

As noted above, Durant just won the UFL title with the Defenders and made the All-UFL team as a left tackle. Durant started 10 games for the Defenders and played every position along the line except for center.

Although Durant comes from the UFL, this isn't his first time in the NFL. After a three-year career at Missouri, where he played in 37 games, Durant spent three years in the NFL before signing with the Defenders.

Durant started his NFL career in Kansas City and played 11 games for the Chiefs in 2020, before the Patriots traded a seventh-round pick for the offensive lineman. In 2021, Durant played seven games for the Patriots under Bill Belichick, and then played a game with the New Orleans Saints in 2022.

Now, the 27-year-old lineman is back with the Patriots for 2025. The Patriots seem to have their tackle spots decided along the offensive line, and Durant would be a depth piece competing for a backup role.

However, his versatility could allow him to slide inside and get some added playing time at left guard.
