Patriots Reward Defensive Tackle With Two-Year Extension

After already making notable news with the release of Chukwuma Okorafor on Monday afternoon, the New England Patriots re-signed 28-year-old defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. to a two-year extension on Monday night, per James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom.

Pharms began his career out of college in spring football after falling undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.

He started with the Wichita Force in the Indoor Football League before transitioning to the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers in 2022, an opportunity Pharms took full advantage of.

Since then, Pharms has battled his way from the bottom of the depth chart all the way to becoming a consistent rotational piece for New England’s interior defensive line.

Pharms remained a consistent contributor for New England throughout the 2024 campaign, logging 33 tackles and two sacks in 16 games played (41% of snaps).

Patriots general manager Eliot Wolf and the front office staff continue to cross off names slated to hit free agency in March, making it a priority with Pharms re-signing and Okorafor’s release, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent next month as well.

It's been a good start for the Patriots, but much more has to be done entering the 2025-26 season.
