Just three days after losing Super Bowl LX, the New England Patriots made a few depth signings for their 2026 roster.
The Patriots announced on Wednesday that offensive tackle Sebastian Gutierrez and running back Elijah Mitchell have been signed to futures contracts. The terms of their deals haven't been revealed yet.
Gutierrez has bounced around the NFL since going undrafted in 2022, spending time with the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts among other teams. He signed with the Patriots' practice squad in September 2025 before getting released in December. Less than a month later, he returned to the AFC East champions.
Mitchell, a former sixth-round pick, played for the San Francisco 49ers from 2021-2024. He then had a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs before taking his talents to New England this past December. In 28 career games, he has 1,523 rushing yards, 158 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns.
Although the Patriots fell short in the Super Bowl, the fan base should still feel awfully confident about the program that Mike Vrabel has built. He took a 4-13 team and immediately transformed them into a contender.
As for Drake Maye, his struggles in the postseason shouldn't just erase all the great things he did this past year. The MVP finalist finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions
Do you think the Patriots will be back in the mix for a Super Bowl title next season?
