Patriots' Sony Michel, Shaq Mason, Derek Rivers land on reserve/COVID list

The New England Patriots have placed more players on their reserve/COVID list, but their matchup against the Denver Broncos on Sunday still is set to be played at Gillette Stadium.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Patriots placed running back Sony Michel, guard Shaq Mason and defensive end Derek Rivers on the reserve COVID-19 list on Saturday.

New England elevated tackle Caleb Benenoch to the practice squad, while tight end Rashod Berry, wide receiver Isaiah Zuber and defensive end Nick Thurman have been named as COVID replacements.

According to The Athletic's Jeff Howe, Michel has tested positive. Mason and Rivers have not.

New England's outbreak began with Cam Newton, who has since returned to practice and is expected to play against the Broncos. Stephon Gilmore also tested positive for the virus, but will play against Denver.

James Ferentz and Byron Cowart also are on the reserve/COVID list.
