The New England Patriots may have already made a big splash by signing wide receiver Romeo Doubs to a $70 million deal, but it looks like they’re far from finished reshaping their receiving corps. Reports suggest the Patriots are still actively pursuing another top target, specifically a three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who could step in as the team’s true WR1.

While Doubs is a major addition and a proven playmaker, the sense around the league is that New England is still looking for an elite, game-changing presence on the outside. In other words, the Patriots’ offseason hunt for weapons isn’t over just yet.

Cameron Wolfe, recently spoke on the NFL Network and shared information that the Patriots are not done yet. He said,

“Look I am told the conversations regarding A.J. Brown are not dead yet. I think their number one priority if they had a choice would be to figure out how to trade for Eagle’s receiver A.J Brown. My understand is that the Eagle’s asking price is still very high. Right now there is not much common ground on a deal.”

Can the Patriots Get Both Doubs and Brown?

The New England Patriots have already made one major move to upgrade their receiving group, bringing in Romeo Doubs on a four-year deal worth up to $80 million. But even after committing big money to the former Green Bay Packers wideout,

The team is still reportedly exploring the possibility of landing A. J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles, a move that would give the Patriots the true No. 1 receiver they’ve been searching for.

Doubs brings consistency and reliability to the offense after posting 55 catches for 724 yards and six touchdowns last season, and he has quietly been a steady contributor throughout his career with over 200 receptions and 21 touchdowns since entering the league in 2022. Still, New England’s front office seems to be aiming even higher.

Brown, a three-time Pro Bowler, would instantly become the centerpiece of the passing attack and a top target for young quarterback Drake Maye. The challenge, however, is Philadelphia’s asking price, which reportedly includes multiple premium draft picks. For now, the Patriots appear willing to keep pushing to see if a deal can be reached.
